Get to know the trainer behind Mystic Dog

Hello, Im Brenda

I am based in Long Beach, California. With over 8 years of experience in the dog industry, my journey began at a doggy daycare, where I noticed that many dogs were not thriving due to environments that didn’t support their needs. This observation ignited my passion for understanding dog psychology.

Seeking a better way to address these needs, I transitioned to a dog walking company. There, I discovered the positive impact of walking dogs in groups. Recognizing how this could fulfill their physical needs while also providing mental stimulation. This experience reinforced my belief in the benefits of structured, mindful interaction with dogs.

To deepen my knowledge, I pursued mentorships from leading experts in dog psychology like Cheri Lucas and also learning through shadowing other trainers that aligned with my philosophy . This mentorships was pivotal in shaping my approach and led to the creation of Mystic Dog.

My philosophy centers on the idea that dogs need clear direction from the human for them to be set up for success and it is up to us to help them succeed in the human world. Through Mystic Dog, I remain committed to this principle, continuously seeking more knowledge and methods to enhance my work and adaptability with dogs.

My Approach

Looking at our dogs needs is my first focus. Making sure they are physically and mentally fulfilled, making sure we are bringing clarity into their everyday lives, and making sure we have built that trust and respect between owner and dog. My goal is to make owners feel confident on how to bring a closer healthy bond with their pups by coming up with a game plan together. I am aware building healthy relationships is hard work, which is why I like to approach each situation with compassion and a helping ear and guide owners every step of the way.
